ROAD SCHOLARS CC

HOW IT STARTED...

WE ARE HOT RODDERS, KUSTOM SLEDDERS AND GEARHEADS FROM ALL CORNERS OF THE STATE OF MAINE. MOST OF US HAVE EITHER BEEN OR STILL ARE OFFICERS OR MEMBERS OF SOME OF THE MAJOR CLUBS IN MAINE. WITH ALL THAT EXPERIENCE IT'S NO WONDER WE FORMED THE ROAD SCHOLARS. AS SEEN THROUGH THE EYES OF SOME WE ARE REBELS AND MALCONTENTS. THIS IS HOW WE STARTED WHAT HAS BECOME THE ROAD SCHOLARS.

SOMETIME AROUND 2003, A NEWSLETTER WAS PUBLISHED CALLED THE "ROADSCHOLARS LAMENT". THIS WAS PUBLISHED AND DISTRIBUTED TO A FEW RODDERS AND CLUBS, AS A PARODY OF SOME OF THE CLUB NEWSLETTERS, THAT AT THE TIME WERE TAKING THEMSELVES WAY TO SERIOUSLY. IT WAS IRREVERENT, UNEDITED AND UNCENSORED. SOMETIMES IT BEAT UP AN EVENT OR POKED FUN AT A CLUB. OTHER TIMES IT WOULD RAKE SOMEONE OVER THE COALS FOR BEING A PUTZ IN PUBLIC. AT NO TIME DID IT TELL ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE TRUTH AND IT ALSO WAS A HIT.

NOT SURPRISINGLY IT RAISED MORE THAN A FEW EYEBROWS, A COUPLE OF NOTCHES ON THE BLOOD PRESSURE SCALE AND A COUPLE OF TEMPERS, BUT A FEW MORE ISSUES WERE PUBLISHED, UNTIL A FOLLOWING OF FANS FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHO WAS WRITING IT.

AFTER SOME DISCUSSION AND PRODDING FROM SOME OF THE HARDCORE READERS IT WAS DECIDED TO FORM A CLUB WITH THE SAME PRINCIPLES AND ATTITUDE AS THE NEWSLETTER. MEMBERSHIP WOULD BE THE RODDERS AND GEARHEADS THAT KNEW WHAT WAS FUN, WHO DROVE THEIR VEHICLES AND WHO DIDN'T REALLY GIVE A SHIT ABOUT POLITICAL CORRECTNESS OR IMAGE.

AS A CLUB WE WANTED A DIFFERENT SYSTEM THAN ALL THE POLITICS AND BULLSHIT EGO PAMPERING THAT SEEMS TO PERMEATE THE NORMAL CLUBS. SO WE WENT WITH A LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP, NO OFFICERS, MINIMAL MEETINGS AND MANDATORY NOTHING.

SO CALL US WHAT YOU WILL, WE'RE STILL GOING TO HAVE FUN...

...UNTIL THE COPS SHOW UP, THEN WE'LL HAVE A BLAST.

OH AND THE ANFB IN OUR LITTLE LOGO. IT STANDS FOR THE ONE THING WE ALL AGREED ON

  ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKING BULLSHIT

 ... AND MORE
